Bayou Fitness Privacy Policy

Effective Date: May 2026

Bayou Fitness is operated by Bayou Applied Engineering, LLC, a California limited liability company. This Privacy Policy explains how Bayou Fitness collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use the Bayou Fitness iOS app and the Bayou Fitness website at bayou.fitness.

You can contact us at contact@bayou.fitness.

Bayou Fitness is designed for fitness and nutrition tracking. Bayou Fitness is not a medical device, and the app does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, injury rehabilitation, or therapy. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional before making decisions about medical conditions, injuries, medications, or major changes to your exercise or nutrition habits.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information in three main ways: information you provide, information generated when you use the app, and information you choose to connect from Apple Health or compatible devices.

Account Information

Bayou Fitness requires an account for normal app use. When you create or access an account, we may collect:

  • Your email address;
  • Your user account identifier;
  • Authentication information needed to operate your account;
  • Information provided through Sign in with Apple, such as email address and full name, depending on what you choose to share with Apple;
  • Locally stored profile information, such as display name and profile photo.

Bayou Fitness does not collect phone numbers, public usernames, public profiles, contact lists, or address-book information.

Workout and Fitness Data

When you use Bayou Fitness, the app may store workout and fitness information, including:

  • Exercises, sets, repetitions, weight, units, dates, timestamps, and workout duration;
  • Workout notes and custom exercise names;
  • Training programs, schedules, templates, and planned workouts;
  • Personal records, progress statistics, and workout summaries;
  • RPE, RIR, intensity targets, and related training details;
  • Cardio duration, distance, pace, calories, heart-rate summaries, and heart-rate samples;
  • Apple Health workout identifiers when HealthKit is used;
  • Optional workout receipt images, share images, or GIFs that you create.

Workout history is currently stored primarily on your device using local app storage. Bayou Fitness does not currently operate a general workout-sync backend. If you choose to use cloud AI features, the specific text, images, or content you submit for that AI request may be sent off-device as described below.

Nutrition Data

Bayou Fitness may collect and store nutrition-related information, including:

  • Food journal entries;
  • Calories and macronutrients;
  • Saved foods, meals, and ingredients;
  • Nutrition goals;
  • Meal descriptions and other food-related text you enter;
  • Meal photos you choose to submit or save.

Nutrition information is for general fitness and tracking purposes only and is not medical or dietary advice.

Body Metrics and Health-Related Information

Bayou Fitness may store body metrics and related data you enter or choose to import, such as body weight, body fat percentage, lean body mass, and other progress metrics.

Because fitness, nutrition, body metrics, and health-related information can be sensitive, we use this information only to operate and improve the features you request, and we do not sell it or use it for third-party advertising.

Apple Health / HealthKit Data

Bayou Fitness integrates with Apple Health through HealthKit. HealthKit access is optional. The app can function without HealthKit access, although some features may be limited.

With your permission, Bayou Fitness may read the following types of HealthKit data:

  • Heart rate;
  • Active energy;
  • Body mass;
  • Body fat percentage;
  • Lean body mass;
  • Step count;
  • Walking, running, cycling, and swimming distance;
  • Workouts;
  • Workout effort score, where supported by iOS.

With your permission, Bayou Fitness may write the following data to Apple Health:

  • Workouts;
  • Active energy;
  • Heart rate;
  • Workout distances;
  • Workout effort score, where supported by iOS.

You control HealthKit permissions through Apple Health and iOS Settings. You may revoke Bayou Fitness's HealthKit access at any time.

Bayou Fitness does not normally send Apple Health data to Bayou Fitness servers. However, if you manually include health, fitness, workout, body metric, or nutrition information in content you submit to an AI feature, that submitted content may be processed off-device to provide the feature.

AI Feature Inputs and Outputs

Bayou Fitness includes cloud-based AI features that can help parse or estimate information from user-submitted content, such as:

  • Workout text parsing;
  • Workout image parsing;
  • Program parsing;
  • Workout-history import parsing;
  • Nutrition text parsing;
  • Meal photo estimation;
  • Nutrition repair or cleanup.

When you use these features, the content you submit may be sent to Bayou Fitness's cloud systems and AI service providers so the requested feature can work. This may include text, images, workout details, nutrition details, or other information you choose to provide to the AI feature.

Bayou Fitness does not use your AI inputs or outputs to train Bayou Fitness models. Bayou Fitness's AI proxy records limited metadata about AI requests, such as user ID, operation type, request status, latency, model/provider, input character count, image byte count, token counts, and error code. This metadata is used to operate, secure, debug, and monitor the AI features.

Photos, Camera, and Media

Bayou Fitness may request camera or photo library access when you choose to use features involving images, such as:

  • Meal photos;
  • Workout or program parsing from images;
  • Profile photos;
  • Workout share images or GIFs.

Saved meal, workout, and profile images are stored in local app files unless you choose to submit an image to an AI feature or share it externally. Images submitted to AI features are sent off-device for processing.

Heart-Rate Monitors and Bluetooth

Bayou Fitness may use Bluetooth to connect to external heart-rate monitors. The app may store a saved peripheral UUID locally so it can reconnect to the device.

Location and Route Data

Bayou Fitness does not currently collect GPS routes, precise location, or approximate location. If Bayou Fitness adds location-based workout features, such as route tracking for running, we will update this Privacy Policy and request any required permissions before collecting location data.

Website and Support Information

If you contact us for support, we may collect the information you provide, such as your email address, message content, screenshots, diagnostic details, or other information needed to respond.

The Bayou Fitness website may collect basic information needed to operate the website. If we add website analytics, cookies, advertising pixels, mailing lists, or contact forms, we will update this Privacy Policy as appropriate.

2. How We Use Information

Bayou Fitness uses information to:

  • Create, authenticate, and manage your account;
  • Provide workout tracking, nutrition tracking, progress tracking, exports, and related app features;
  • Read from and write to Apple Health when you grant permission;
  • Process user-submitted text or images through AI features when you choose to use those features;
  • Generate workout, nutrition, and progress insights;
  • Store app preferences, profile information, and local app data;
  • Provide customer support;
  • Secure, debug, maintain, and improve the app;
  • Monitor AI feature reliability, latency, usage, and errors;
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms and policies.

We do not use health, fitness, workout, nutrition, body metric, or Apple Health data for third-party advertising. We do not sell your health or fitness data.

3. How Information Is Stored

Bayou Fitness currently stores most workout, nutrition, body metric, profile, and app data locally on your device using local app storage, UserDefaults, App Group UserDefaults, and Apple Watch local storage where applicable.

Bayou Fitness uses service providers for account authentication, account deletion, cloud infrastructure, and AI processing. Network requests use HTTPS. We do not claim end-to-end encryption for Bayou Fitness data.

If Bayou Fitness later adds cloud sync, backup, cross-device restore, team/trainer features, analytics, or premium data services, we will update this Privacy Policy before those practices apply.

4. When We Share Information

We may disclose information in the following limited circumstances:

Service Providers

We use service providers to operate Bayou Fitness, including providers for authentication, backend functions, cloud infrastructure, AI processing, and email-based account functions such as verification or password reset. These providers process information for us so we can provide the app.

AI Processing

When you choose to use cloud AI features, the specific text, images, and related request information you submit may be sent to AI service providers to generate the requested result.

Apple and HealthKit

When you grant HealthKit permission, Bayou Fitness may read from or write to Apple Health as described in this Privacy Policy and in Apple's permission prompts. You can manage these permissions through Apple Health or iOS Settings.

User-Directed Sharing

If you use the iOS share sheet or other sharing features, you choose where to send workout receipts, images, GIFs, exports, or other content. Information shared this way is handled by the destination app or service you choose.

Legal, Safety, and Business Transfers

We may disclose information if we believe it is reasonably necessary to comply with law, legal process, or enforceable government requests; protect the rights, safety, and security of Bayou Fitness, users, or others; investigate fraud, abuse, or security issues; or as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets.

5. Advertising, Tracking, and Sale of Data

Bayou Fitness does not currently show ads, use third-party ad networks, access the IDFA, use App Tracking Transparency for tracking, use targeted-advertising pixels, or sell personal information.

Bayou Fitness does not sell health, fitness, workout, nutrition, body metric, or Apple Health data. Bayou Fitness does not use that data for third-party advertising.

If these practices change, we will update this Privacy Policy and obtain any permissions required by law or platform rules.

6. Payments and Premium Features

Bayou Fitness does not currently process payment card information directly. If Bayou Fitness offers paid or premium features, purchases are expected to be processed through Apple's in-app purchase system. In that case, Apple processes payment information, and Bayou Fitness may receive information such as subscription status, product purchased, renewal state, trial eligibility, cancellation status, and transaction identifiers needed to provide premium features.

7. Your Choices and Controls

Account and Profile

You can access and update certain account and profile information in the app.

Workout, Nutrition, and Body Data

You can access, edit, and delete workouts and food entries in the app. You can export workouts, progress, and body metrics as JSON, CSV, or PDF where supported.

Apple Health

You can grant or revoke Apple Health permissions through Apple Health or iOS Settings.

Photos and Camera

You can grant or revoke camera and photo library permissions through iOS Settings.

AI Features

You control whether to submit text or images to AI features. If you do not want specific content processed by cloud AI providers, do not submit that content to AI features.

Marketing Communications

Bayou Fitness does not currently send marketing emails. Account-related emails, such as verification and password-reset emails, may still be sent as necessary to operate your account.

8. Account Deletion

Bayou Fitness provides an in-app account deletion flow. When you delete your account, Bayou Fitness deletes your authentication account, signs you out, and clears certain local app data such as local workout data, scheduled workout data, and locally stored profile name/photo.

Some information may be retained if necessary for security, legal compliance, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or legitimate business records. Data stored in backups, logs, or service-provider systems may take additional time to delete.

Before launch, Bayou Fitness should ensure that account deletion also clears local food journal entries, saved foods, body metrics, rest-day records, and any other locally stored personal data associated with the account, unless retention is required or the user is clearly told how to delete it.

You may also contact contact@bayou.fitness to request deletion or ask questions about your data.

9. Data Retention

Bayou Fitness keeps personal information for as long as needed to provide the app, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, maintain security, and enforce agreements.

Because most workout, nutrition, and body metric data is currently stored locally on your device, local data may remain on your device until you delete it in the app, delete your account through the app, or uninstall the app. AI request metadata may be retained for operational, security, debugging, and reliability purposes. Support emails may be retained as needed to respond to and manage support requests.

Bayou Fitness should adopt and publish more specific retention periods for support requests, AI request metadata, logs, backups, and any future cloud sync or analytics data.

10. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information. For example, network requests use HTTPS, and access to production systems should be limited to people and service providers who need access to operate the app.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Children's Privacy

Bayou Fitness is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without appropriate consent, we will take steps to delete it.

[Decision needed before launch: choose whether Bayou Fitness is available only to users 18+, users 16+, or users 13+ with parent/guardian permission for minors. The final policy should match the app's onboarding, App Store age rating, Terms of Use, and product design.]
